Student Initiatives

Getting a position as a student leader is just the start! It’s important to bring new ideas to your team. Here are some initiatives you can bring to your school:

Initiatives you Can Bring to your School

Dance Marathon is an incredible fundraiser that hundreds of schools across the country participate in. If your school doesn’t have one, let me tell you all about it! Dance Marathon is a nationwide, student-led, yearlong fundraiser. High schools and universities are all grouped with different hospitals near them, meaning all money raised by your school directly benefits your community! It’s an amazing organization, and you can start one at your school. Simply reach out to Children’s Miracle Network by clicking here and filling out this contact sheet.

An Inter-Club Council is a governing body that supports and recognizes all student clubs and organizations on your campus. A representative from each club attends a monthly ICC meeting, where an elected officer holds a discussion among the clubs. ICC is important because not only is it a good way to measure what it means to officially be a club, but it also allows for collaboration amongst recognized clubs to promote each other!

A Green Up Day is a perfect example of a good event coordinated through ICC. It involves all your school’s clubs coming together on a weekend, once a year, and working together to make your campus as amazing as possible. I’m talking about touching up paint, putting in new mulch, doing campus cleanups, and so much more.

Community Events are another amazing event you can host at your school. My school’s SGA runs two big ones, Trunk or Treat and Windermere Wonderland, where all the clubs of our school set up booths around the courtyard with games, candy, and activities. This allows families in our community to experience all the great things your school has to offer.
